Table 1. Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) General Arrangement (refer to figure 1)
Key
Control/Indicator
Function
1
RO-V-9 ROWPU Auxiliary
This valve controls the fresh water supplied for ROWPU flushing
Fresh Water Pressure Pump
during maintenance cycles.
Supply Valve
2
RO-PG-1-1 ROWPU 1
This gauge indicates pressure at the 5-micron filter inlet for
20-Micron Filter Outlet/
ROWPU 1. It is used with the high pressure pump inlet pressure
5-Micron Filter Inlet Pressure
gauge to determine differential pressure across the 5-micron filter.
Gauge
Refer to figure 2.
3
RO-PG-2-1 ROWPU 2
This gauge indicates pressure at the 5-micron filter inlet for
20-Micron Filter Outlet/
ROWPU 2. It is used with the high pressure pump inlet pressure
5-Micron Filter Inlet Pressure
gauge to determine differential pressure across the 5-micron filter.
Gauge
Refer to figure 2.
4
PW-38 BROMINATOR
This valve controls the discharge flow from the brominator.
OUTLET
5
PW-36 BYPASS-
This valve is OPEN to bypass the brominator.
BROMINATOR
6
PW-37 BROMINATOR INLET
This valve controls the flow of potable water into the brominator.
7
PW-84 POT. WTR. TO
This valve is OPEN to permit the vessel's potable water to circulate
BROMINATOR
through the brominator.
8
RO-V-7 Backflow Preventer
This valve controls the flow of potable water into the backflow
Inlet Valve
preventer.
9
RO-V-6 Backflow Preventer
This valve controls the flow of potable water out of the backflow
Discharge Valve
preventer.
10
ROWPU 2 Flow Control
This panel contains the gauges needed to monitor the quantity and
Panel
quality of the product water and the means to control overall system
pressure for ROWPU 2. Refer to figure 3.
11
RO-V-1-2 ROWPU 1 Brine
This valve controls the brine discharge from ROWPU 1.
Discharge Valve
12
RO-V-2-2 ROWPU 2 Brine
This valve controls the brine discharge from ROWPU 2.
Discharge Valve
13
RO-V-8 Product Water
This valve controls the flow of product water discharge from the
Discharge Valve
ROWPUs.
14
ROWPU 2 System Controller
The system controller monitors the salt content of the product water
by means of the salinity probe, and signals the 3-way diverter valve
when potable water is being produced. The 3-way diverter valve and
pump motors are all directly connected to and governed by the
system controller. Refer to figure 4.
15
ROWPU 1 Flow Control
This panel contains the gauges needed to monitor the quantity and
Panel
quality of product water and the means to control overall system pres-
sure for ROWPU 1. Refer to figure 3.
