4-5. PRELIMINARY INSPECTION.
a. Read and follow all instructions on DD Form 1397.
b. Remove all strapping, plywood tape, seals, and wrapping.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles
and gloves, and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and
clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open frame or excessive
heat. The solvent's flash point is 100F-130F (38C-59C), If you become dizzy
while using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. If solvent
contacts eyes, immediately wash your eyes and get medical aid.
c. Remove rust preventive compound using dry cleaning solvent (Item 10, Appendix E) and rags
d. Inspect the trailer for damage incurred during shipment. Check also to see if the equipment has been
modified.
e. Check the equipment against the packing list to see if the shipment is complete.
f. Report all discrepancies in accordance with instructions in DA Pam 738-750.
4-6. PRELIMINARY SERVICING AND ADJUSTMENT.
a. Perform all operator/crew and organizational PMCS. Schedule the next PMCS on DD Form 314.
b. If any system of the trailer does not operate properly, refer to the troubleshooting instructions in
Chapter 3, Section ll, or to
Section IV of
this chapter.
Perform all lubrication regardless of interval (Chapter 3, Section 1),
c.
Report all problems on DA Form 2404 if the deficiencies appear to involve unsatisfactory design.
d.
Perform a break-in road test of 25 mi (40 km) at a maximum speed of 55 mi/h (88 km/h).
