4-4. CHECKING UNPACKED EQUIPMENT
Perform receiving inspection of the air conditioner in the following manner:
a. Inspect the equipment for damage incurred during shipment.
If the equipment has been damaged, report
damage on SF 364, Report of Discrepancy.
b. Check the equipment against the packing slip to see if the shipment is complete. Report all discrepancies in
accordance with the instructions of DA PAM 738-750.
c. Check to see whether the equipment has been modified.
4-5. INSTALLATION SITE PREPARATION
a. General. The air conditioner is designed so that it is adaptable to a variety of installation arrangements. Most
typical installations are made by preparing an opening in an exterior wall of the room or enclosure to be conditioned and
positioning the air conditioner so that the front of the cabinet is inside the room or enclosure and the back outside.
Alternate installations may be made with the entire cabinet either inside or outside the conditioned area. The following
are minimum requirements for all installations:
(1) A relatively level surface capable of bearing the weight of the air conditioner on which to set the base. To
insure proper condensate drainage, the surface should be level with 5from front to back and side to side.
(2) An unobstructed flow of air from outside the conditioned area to inlet and outlet of the condenser.
(3) An unobstructed flow of air from inside the conditioned area to the conditioned air intake and discharge.
(4) An unobstructed flow of air from outside the conditioned area to the fresh air damper intake and/ or NBC
filter intake, if installed.
(5) Access to the front and back of the cabinet for routine operation and servicing and for necessary
maintenance actions.
(6) Access to the top of the cabinet for removal of the top panel and sufficient headroom to allow maintenance
actions and internal component removal and installation through the top panel opening.
