11-34. FIELD EXPEDIENT RADIO REMOTE
General Information:
This procedure gives instructions for the construction of a field expedient remote to
replace the AN/GRA-39 if it is inoperative.

q 60-90 minutes
Materials/Tools:
q 680 Ohm Resistor
q 47 Ohm Resistor
q 5000 Ohm Variable Potentiometer
q H-144/U Handset (only cord and plug used)
q M-80 Microphone (only cord and plug used)
q TA-312/PT Field Telephones (two each)
q Electrical tape
q 18-24 Gauge wire
q Wire strippers
q Knife
q WD-1/TT field wire (as needed)
Procedural Steps:
1.
Build the prototype radio remote unit from the schematic using the following steps:
a. Locate the R-3 potentiometer, K-1 relay, and BA4386/U battery. Tape the
three components solidly together.
b. Cut the cords from the H-144/U handset and the M-80 microphone.
