2-28. FORDING WATER OBSTACLES
CAUTION
Do not ford water unless depth is known. Fording water deeper
than 28 in. (71 cm) will cause equipment damage.
a. Ensure depth of water is not deeper than 28 in. (71 cm).
b. Ensure bottom of fording site is firm enough so that HET Tractor will not become stuck.
c. Stop HET Tractor at edge of water.
d. If brakes have been used heavily and are hot, allow drums and shoes to cool before entering
water if possible.
e. Ensure HET Tractor is operating correctly before entering water.
g. Set TRANSFER CASE shift lever (2) to LOW position.
h. Set DRIVELINE control (3) to LOCK position.
