NOTE
Refer to FM 21-305 for further information on safe driving practices.
a. General. Perform operator/crew During (D) PMCS while operating the trailer.
b. Driving. Keep in mind the overall length of the towing vehicle and trailer when passing other vehicles,
turning, and backing.
c. Turning. When turning corners, remember that the trailer wheels turn inside the turning radius of the
towing vehicle. Make a right turn by driving the towing vehicle approximately halfway into the intersection and
then cutting sharply to the right. This will keep trailer wheels off the curb. Keep the vehicle close enough to the
edge of the road to prevent following vehicles from attempting to pass on the right.
d. Stopping. During normal operation stepping on the brake pedal will stop both the towing vehicle and
trailer. Apply brakes gradually and smoothly.
