STEERING CONSOLE
NOTE
The hydraulic component/system inspection is
a multiple point inspection that must be
performed each time a hydraulic component/
item is encountered.
a. Inspect steering console for condition of kingpin (21),

bar (26). Check for cracks, dents, leaks, and presence
of lubrication. If semitrailer is coupled to tractor,
ensure that steering wedge is snugly seated in fifth
wheel vee.
b. With semitrailer uncoupled from tractor, check steering
wedge lockwasher (27) for condition. If flat, cracked,
or missing, obtain replacement from unit maintenance
and install.
