b.1. Starting Engine (Below 0 F (-18 C)).
NOTE
If it will be necessary to regularly operate the IHMEE in temperatures below 0 F (-18 C), and the
vehicle does not have a cold weather kit, notify Unit maintenance. This procedure only applies to
vehicles equipped with a cold weather kit.
For operation in severely cold conditions, the IHMEE can be equipped with an arctic heater. The
arctic heater is operated prior to starting the engine to provide preheating of the engine block.

Turn off all electrical equipment (i.e., lights, defrost blower, radio) inside cabin.

Ensure EGS lever is in N (Neutral) position (Para 5-4).

Do not operate arctic heater in ambient temperatures above 0 F (-18 C). Damage to equipment may
result.

Push arctic heater button (3). Button will light and
symbol (4) will show on face of timer (5),
indicating system is on.
(6)
Allow arctic heater to warm engine for 15 min.
before starting.
(7)
Push arctic heater button (3). Light will go off and
face of timer (5) will be blank, indicating system is
off.
(8)
Turn ignition switch (1) to IGN position.
