Two retaining rings
General mechanic's tool kit
Two washers
Brakeshoe spring pliers
Ten locknuts
Retaining ring pliers
Two C-clamps
a. REMOVAL
WARNING
DO NOT handle brake shoes, brake drums, or other brake components unless area
has been properly cleaned. There may be asbestos dust on these components
which can be dangerous If you touch It or breathe It. Wear an approved filter mask
and gloves. Never use compressed air or a dry brush to clean brake components.
Dust may be removed using an Industrial-type vacuum cleaner. Clean dust or mud
away from brake components with water and a wet, soft brush or cloth. Failure to
follow this warning may result in serious Illness or death to personnel.
1.
Remove two retracting springs (2) and two extension springs (5) using brakeshoe spring pliers.
2.
Remove bolt (7) and washer (6) from each brakeshoe (1).
3.
Install C-clamps over notched ends (3) of wheel cylinders (4) to retain wheel cylinder pistons.

Remove brake shoes (1).
