Removal.
a.
WARNING
The semitrailer frame must be firmly supported to
prevent shifting of the semitrailer. Shifting may
c a u s e serious injury to personnel and damage to
equipment.
(1) S u p p o r t both sides of frame.
(2) U s i n g a s u i t a b l e l i f t i n g d e v i c e , r a i s e s e m i t r a i l e r s l i g h t l y .
( 3 ) R e m o v e f o u r n u t s ( 1 , f i g u r e 5 - 7 ) , w a s h e r s (2) and two large u-bolts (3)
from each set of springs (4).
(4) L o w e r
semitrailer
slightly.
(5) R e m o v e u p p e r t r u n n i o n c a p s ( 5 ) a n d l o w e r t r u n n i o n c a p s ( 6 ) .
NOTE
Axles will support spring assemblies.
( 6 ) R e m o v e two nuts (7), w a s h e r s ( 8 ) a n d b o l t s ( 9 ) f r o m e a c h t r u n n i o n h a n g e r
(10) (welded to frame).
( 7 ) R e m o v e teflon bushing (11) and washer (12) from each side of trunnion tube
(13).
Clean teflon bushing (11) and washer (12).
(8) C l e a n t r u n n i o n t u b e ( 1 3 ) .
I t may be necessary to use sandpaper to remove
Thoroughly lubricate trunnion tube after cleaning.
