AXLE ASSEMBLY
On all 10 suspensions, measure travel of brake
chamber clevis (5) from fully released "A" position
to fully applied "B" position. If travel distance
of clevis (5) is 2.0 inches (5.1 cm) or more,
perform brake adjustment (para. 4-15) as required.
Check brake drums (6) and brake shoes (7) for
excessive/unusual wear and scoring. Drums (6)
12.375 inches (31.433 cm). Brake shoes (7)
minimum of 0.46 inch (1.17 cm) thick. If any rivets
are flush with or higher than any portion of brake
lining, that brake shoe assembly must be replaced.
Replace or repair brake shoe as necessary.
