The terms ready/ available and mission capable refer to
the same status: Equipment is on hand and is able to
perform its combat mission (See AR700-138.)
2-15 SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS.
It is necessary for you to know how fluid leaks affect the status of your equipment.
T h e following are definitions of the types/classes of leakage you need to know to be
a b l e to determine the status of your equipment.
Seepage of fluid (as indicated by wetness or discoloration) not
Class I
great enough to form drops.
Class II
L e a k a g e of fluid great enough to form drops but not enough to cause
drops to drip from item being checked/inspected*
Class III
Leakage of fluid great enough to form drops that fall from the item
being checked/finspected.

Equipment operation is allowable with minor leakages
( C l a s s I or II). Of course, you must consider the fluid
capacity in the item/system being checked/inspected. When
i n doubt, notify your supervisor.
When operating with Class I or Class II leaks, continue
to check fluid levels as required in your PMCS.
C l a s s III leaks should be reported to your supervisor or
o r g a n i z a t i o n a l maintenance.
