Section Ill. LUBRICATION
The refrigerant compressor and its drive motor are hermetically sealed in a canister. The compressor
crankcase has a lifetime supply of oil and the drive motor has permanently lubricated, sealed bearings. No
lubrication of these items is required.
4-15. MECHANICAL LUBRICATION
The only mechanical items which may require lubrication are the louvers in the conditioned air intake and
discharge grilles and the devices which operate the fresh air damper door. These points should be checked and
lubricated, as necessary, during preventive maintenance service. A few drops of light oil should be applied to
pivot points, bearing surfaces, hinges, and linkages to prevent or eliminate stiffness or binding. Be sure to wipe
off all excess oil with a cloth or paper towel. These items are in areas of high volume airflow and excess oil will
tend to attract and accumulate dust particles from the passing air. Graphite may be used as an alternate
lubricant during extreme cold weather operation.
