INSPECTION
1.Visually check braking surface of brakedrum for
cracks, heat checking, and scoring. Reface braking
surface if heat checked or scored.
2.Check for out-of-round condition at 450 intervals.
Maximum out-of-round is 0.01 in. (0.25 mm).
3.Check that inside diameter does not exceed 16.880
in. (42.88 cm).
4.Check brakedrum for tapered condition. Maxi- mum
taper is 0.0004 in. (0.01 mm).

REPAIR
WARNING
DO NOT use a brakedrum that exceeds maximum wear specifications. Failure
to follow this warning may result in brake failure and serious injury or death.
1.Reface braking surface of brakedrum to remove heat checking and scoring. Remove a maximum of 0.01 in. (0.25 mm)
per cut.
2.Discard brakedrum with edge cracks or if inside diameter exceeds 16.880 in. (42.88 cm) after refacing.
