REMOVAL
NOTE
Right and left spring shackles (13) are removed the same way. This procedure
covers one spring shackle.
Position jackstand under rear crossmember (1) and lower axle (15) with floor jack enough to remove

weight from spring (10).
Remove grease fitting (8), two nuts (11), Iockwashers (12), screws (7), and pin (9) from spring shackle

(13). Discard Iockwashers.
Remove grease fitting (6), nut (4), Iockwasher (3), screw (14), and pin (5) from spring hanger (2).

Discard Iockwasher.

Remove spring shackle (13) from spring hanger (2).
b. CLEANING AND INSPECTION
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and flammable. Always wear protective goggles
and gloves, and use only in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and
clothes, and DO NOT breathe vapors. DO NOT use near open flame or excessive
heat. The solvent's flash point is 100F-130 (38C-59C). if you become dizzy
while using cleaning solvent, immediately get fresh air and medical help. If solvent
contacts eyes, immediately wash your eyes and get medical aid.

Use dry cleaning solvent to clean mud and dirt from all exposed parts, including spring bearings, shackle
Inspect all removed parts for damage. Replace if damaged.
