b. Single winch unloading. To perform single winch unloading, proceed as follows:
WARNING
Tractor operator must provide ample clear space behind the disabled payload
during unloading to protect personnel and prevent damage to equipment should
cable break while payload is being unloaded.
(1) Position tractor/semitrailer/payload combination on ground as level as possible.
(2) On tractor, apply tractor and semitrailer parking brakes. Chock tires on tractor.
WARNING
Unload semitrailer on level ground whenever possible. In adverse conditions,
loading can be done on grades up to 10 percent. Avoid exceeding this limitation to
prevent payload from rolling on semitrailer and causing injury to personnel and
damage to equipment.
(3) Visually check tractor/semitrailer offset angle. Make any required adjustments to tractor.
