HUB AND DRUM (CONT)
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove plain encased seal (1) and inner tapered roller bearing cone (2) from hub and drum assembly (3).
Discard seal.
2.
Drive out outer tapered roller bearing cup (4) from inner axle side of hub and drum assembly (3).
3.
From wheel hub cap side of hub and drum assembly (3), drive out inner tapered roller bearing cup (5).
CAUTION
Note thread type of the studs removed, either right-hand or left-hand. The same
type studs must be reinstalled when replacing studs or damage to equipment may
result.
NOTE
If the drum must be turned/repaired, the wheel hub assembly and brake drum must
be separated.
4.
Drive 10 studs (6) from hub and drum assembly (3).
5.
Separate brake drum (7) and wheel hub (8).
