3.1
SUSPENSION SPINDLE BEARING
With each bogie isolated and chained up and connecting
a. Apply force to bogie using spring scale as shown.
Suspension must turn with no more than 100 pounds
(45.4 kg) force applied. If more than 100 pounds
(45.4 kg) force is required to turn suspension,
check lubrication and looseness.
b. Attempt to move upper suspension/lower suspen-
sion arm joint in fore and aft direction to
check for play. Repeat with bogie turned 90
degrees. If movement exceeds 1/4 inch (0.6 cm),
release spindle nut setscrew and check spindle
and movement remains or if tightening spanner
nut causes turning force to exceed 100 pounds
(45.4 kg), bearing is defective.
