SHOCK ABSORBER REPLACEMENT (M514).
This task covers:

INITIAL SETUP:

Tools/Test Equipment:
Trailer parked on level surface with
General mechanic's tool kit
handbrakes applied (para 2-2).
Common no. 1 shop set
Floor jack
a.
REMOVAL
1.
Place a suitable floor jack under suspension arm
and raise until wheel is off ground.
2.
Remove bolt (1) and flatwasher (2) securing
shock absorber (4) to suspension arm.
3.
Remove bolt (6) and flatwasher (5) securing
shock absorber (4) to frame. Remove shock
absorber (4).
4.
Remove rubber bushing (3) from eye at each
end of shock absorber (4).
b.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install rubber bushing (3) in eye at each end of shock absorber (4).
2.
Secure shock absorber (4) to frame with flatwasher (5) and bolt (6).
3.
Secure shock absorber (4) to suspension arm with flatwasher (2) and bolt (1).
4.
Lower suspension arm and remove floor jack.
