Step 11. Check for worn brake linings.
Replace brake shoe if lining is worn to within 1/16 in. of rivet heads (para 4-20).
Step 12. Check for wheel cylinder leaks.
Step 13. Check for master cylinder leaks.
7. SLOW BRAKE APPLICATION OR SLOW RELEASE.
Step 1. Check to see if air pressure is low.
Step 2. Check relay valve.
Perform operating test (para 4-25) and replace if necessary.
Step 3. Check for insufficient brake fluid in master cylinder.
Fill master cylinder with brake fluid until fluid level is one-half to three-eighths of an inch below top of reservoir
Step 4. Check for air in hydraulic brake system.
Step 5. Check for weak or broken brake shoe retraction spring.
Step 6. Check for wheel cylinder leaks.
