Removal.
( 1 ) R e m o v e s i x h e x n u t s ( 5 , f i g u r e 4 - 4 1 ) , l o c k w a s h e r s (4) and screws (2)
attaching bracket assembly (3) to right frame rail.
(2) Remove spare tire carrier.
Disassembly.
b.
(1) Remove two safety nuts (6,
wheel support (7).
(2) Remove two hex nuts (11) and lockwashers (10) from each u-bolt (9), which
secures cable assembly (1) to wheel support (7).
(3) Draw cable assembly (1) from holes in operating shaft (15).
Remove operating shaft
(4) Remove cotter pin (14) from operating shaft (15).
(15) from bracket assembly.

Cleaning.
Dry cleaning solvent (PD-680) is both toxic and
flammable.
Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. A v o i d
skin contact. Use only in a well ventilated area.
Keep away from open flame. F l a s h p o i n t o f s o l v e n t i s
1 3 8 F (59C).
Use steam or water with a stiff brush to remove dirt.
Use dry cleaning solvent
( P D - 6 8 0 ) to remove grease.

Inspection.
I n s p e c t f o r f r a y e d c a b l e a n d l o o s e u - b o l t . C h e c k bracket
Check operating shaft for
a s s e m b l y for bends, cracks and damaged paint.
s t r a i g h t n e s s . M a k e s u r e p a w l s w i n g s f r e e l y o n i t s m o u n t i n g r i v e t . C h e c k threads on
bolts and nuts of wheel support.
