4-12 GENERAL.
To ensure that the semitrailer is always ready for operation, it must be inspected
within designated intervals so that defects may be discovered and corrected before
t h e y r e s u l t i n s e r i o u s d a m a g e o r f a i l u r e . T h e PMCS table contains a tabulated list-
ing of preventive maintenance checks and services to be performed by organizational
maintenance personnel. All deficiencies and shortcomings will be recorded as well as
the corrective action taken on DA Form 2404 at the earliest possible opportunity.
4-13 ORGANIZATIONAL PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES.
a. The item numbers of the table indicate the sequence of the PMCS. Perform at
the intervals shown below:
(1) DO your (Q) PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE once each three months.
(2) Do your (S) PREVENTIVE MINTENANCE once each six months.
b. If something doesn't work, troubleshoot it with the instructions in this
manual or notify your supervisor.
c . Always do your preventive maintenance in the same order, so it gets to be a
habit. Once you've had some practice you'll spot anything wrong in a hurry.
d.If anything looks wrongand you can't fix it, write it down on your DA Form
2404. If you findsomething serious wrong, report it to direct suppoert maintenance
as soon as possible.
WARNING
Dry cleaning solvent (P-D-680) is toxic and flammable.
Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors. Avoid skin contact.
U s e only in a well ventilated area. Keep away from open
flame. Flash point of solvent is 138 F.
M a k e certain the air stream is directed away from user
and other personnel in the area. To prevent injury user
m u s t wear protective goggles or face shield when using
compressed air.
( 1 ) K e e p i t c l e a n : D i r t , g r e a s e , oil, and debris only get in the way and may
c o v e r u p a s e r i o u s p r o b l e m . C l e a n as you work and as needed. Use dry cleaning
solvent. Use soap and water when you clean rubber or plastic material.
