Equipment Condition
Wrench, Torque (NSN 5120-00-230-6380)

Timing cover removed (para. 5-13).
Puller Kit (NSN 5120-00-230-6380) (Item 4,
Flywheel removed (para. 5-7).
Piston and connecting rod removed (para. 6-7)
(1) Bend out tangs on Iockwasher (1).
(2) Using spanner wrench, remove spanner nut (2), Iockwasher (1), gear (3), and key (4).
(3) Using puller remove camshaft gear (5) and key (6) from camshaft (7).
(4) Using snap ring pliers, remove two center main bearing retaining rings (8).
(5) Remove three screws (9), flat washers (10) and Iockwashers (11).
(6) Remove crankshaft (12), main bearing diaphragm (13), and center main bearing diaphragm (14).
(7) Remove main bearing diaphragm (13) from crankshaft (12).
(8) Remove two bolts (15), nuts (16) and washers (17) and remove center main bearing diaphragm (14) and
bearings (18) from crankshaft (12).
WARNING
Drycleaning solvent PD-680 used to clean parts is potentially dangerous to personnel and
property. Avoid repeated and prolonged skin contact. Do not use near open flame or
excessive heat. Flash point of solvent is 100F.-138F.(38C.-60C.).
(9) Clean all items with drycleaning solvent, and dry thoroughly.
(10) Inspect all items and replace all items that are worn or otherwise damaged. Refer to table 6-2 for wear
limits.
