Ease base flange of scroll housing (16) up until it

Rotate scroll housing (16) towards the condenser

Remove three screws (34) and three flat washers

Disassembly
(35) from inlet ring (36) and remove inlet ring (36)
from scroll (16).
Remove impeller (12) gently from scroll (16). (Do

not force.)
Separate motor (14) from mounting pIate (8) by

removing four screws (37), four Iockwashers
(38), eight flat washers (39) and four bushings
(40).
Visually inspect impeller (22), inlet ring (21 ), shaft
Inspection
a.
extension (4) and scroll (8) for nicks, dents and
out of round conditions.
Straighten bent vanes on impeller (12).
b.
Replace unserviceable impeller (12).
c.
Straighten bent inlet ring (36) and scroll (8). Re-
d.
place if unserviceable.
Replace damaged shaft extension (10).
e.
Replace defective motor.
Inspect exterior case of motor for cracks, dents,
Test
a.
oil, evidence of overheating or any other abnor-
malities.
Turn motor shaft by hand and listen for clicking
b.
sounds that indicate bad bearings, Report condi-
tion to Direct Support Maintenance personnel.
If the shaft cannot be rotated, the bearings may
c.
have seized.
d.
Test the thrust bearings by attempting to push
and pull the motor shaf axially. Report condition
to Direct Support Maintenance personnel.
