6-2. TROUBLESHOOTING (cont) I
A. AUXILIARY MOTOR SWITCH MAY BE DEFECTIVE.
1 Connect multimeter leads to
AUXILIARY MOTOR switch contacts (1
and 2).
Turn on AUXILIARY MOTOR switch.
2 Remove both leads. Connect multimeter leads to
AUXILIARY MOTOR switch
contacts (3 and 4). Turn on AUXILIARY MOTOR switch.
3 Check for continuity. If
continuity is
not present, replace the AUXILIARY
4 If auxiliary motor fails to start, proceed to step B.
B. L2 OR L3 WIRE MAY BE OPEN FROM MAIN POWER SOURCE TO FORWARD SIDE OF STARTER.
1 Connect one multimeter lead to contact L2 (1) at main
power source and connect other lead to contact L2 (2) at
forward side of starter.
2 Remove both leads. Connect one multimeter lead to
contact L3 (3) at main power source and connect other
lead to contact L3 (4) at forward side of starter.
