Repair (replace) any connector as follows:
CAUTION
Exercise care in cutting the nipple to prevent damage to wires and insulation underneath the nipple.
(1)
Cut nipple (2) and peel away from cable assembly.
(2)
Unscrew adapter (3) and slide back away from connector.
NOTE
See table 5-2 for tools referred to in the following steps.
(3)
Using proper extraction tool, remove socket insert(s) to be replaced from connector shell.
(4)
Cut socket inserts (or pins) to be replaced from wires.
(5) Strip insulation from end of wires and crimp replacement socket inserts (or pins) on wires using crimping tool
with positioner.
(6)
Using proper insertion tool, insert socket inserts (or pins) in connector shell.
(7) Slide adapter (3) against connector (1) and screw in place.
(8)
Position new nipple (2) over adapter (3), insuring matching of mating notches.
(9)
Using a suitable heat gun, heat shrink the cable nipple in place.

f socket insert (or pin) to be replaced has a shield termination (4), proceed as follows:
(1)
Complete steps (1) through (4) of paragraph c (preceding).
(2)
Cut effected wire from cable assembly just above the conductor splice (4), and cut conductor splice from
other wire(s).
(3)
Cut replacement wire to proper length and strip both ends.
(4)
Crimp replacement socket insert (or pin) on one end of replacement wire.
(5)
Install replacement conductor splice over the applicable wires.
(6)
Heat conductor splice with hot air from PACE solder X-TRACTOR sufficiently to provide good solder flow.
