5-5. DMS-D Corrective Maintenance Procedures.
Only those procedures which are not obvious by illustration (see paragraph 5-3b) or previously discussed in paragraph 5-
4 (preceding) are discussed here.
a.
Installation of SELECTOR A, B, and C Switches (S1, S2, and S3).
(1) Install the switch with the flat portion of both shafts in the 12 o'clock
position in relationship to the DMS-D front panel. This will place the inner shaft
in the fully ccw position.
(2) Install the large knob (numeric digits) with the setscrew beside the digit " 9" tightened on the flat portion of
1
the outer shaft. (This will place digit "1" at the 9 o'clock position).
(3) Install the smaller knob (alpha digits) with a setscrew 90 w from the digit "A" tightened on the flat of the
c
inner shaft. (This will place an "A" digit beside the "1" at the 9 o'clock position).
b.
Installation of the HORIZ(VOLTS), VERT(VOLTS), AMPTD(AMPS), and AMPTD(VOLTS) Potentiometers (R1, R2,
R3 and R6). (Refer to figure 5-1). Installation is the same for all four potentiometers; therefore, only R3 is discussed.
(1) Coat spring pin (1) with adhesive MIS 18636 and press into front panel approximately one-half the length of
the spring pin.
(2)
Install screw (2) in front panel.
(3)
Install potentiometer R3 in front panel and rotate until spring pin (1) locks in hole in potentiometer.
(4) Install mounting plate (3) over shaft of potentiometer and rotate plate until brake assembly is to right of top
center. Correct position is indicated when one of the three screw holes is in a vertical line with the shaft and the centering
hole fits over screw (2). Secure with lockwasher (4) and jam nut (5).
(5)
Set the potentiometer to "0" by rotating the shaft ccw until it hits the ccw stop.
(6)
Slip the operating knob (6) over the potentiometer shaft with the set screw up or down, whichever is
convenient.
NOTE
The window in the counter wheel assembly (7) is held in by pressure only. Insure window is in place
prior to installing (7).
(7)
Set the counter wheel assembly (7) between "010" and "020". Push the counter wheel assembly on the
