3-19. FAN BELTS.

Engine shut down (paragraph 2-11).
Vessel is moored (paragraph 2-7).
a. Inspection.
(1) Inspect fan belts for cracks, fraying, or signs of deterioration.
(2) Notify direct support maintenance of a damaged belt.
b. Adjust. (Refer to figure 3-17).
(1) Loosen four screws (1) and screw (2) until pulley and hub assembly (3) will slide up or down.
(2) Pry up on pulley and hub assembly (3) until a firm push with the thumb, at a point midway between the two
pulleys, will depress the belt 1/2" to 3/4".
(3) Tighten four screws (1) and screw (2).
